Who is Ed Barry ?
Always with a song is his head, music really does live inside him.
As a songwriter, Ed takes a humble approach - No need to swing for the fences or chase a Grammy. Sure, It would be nice, he says, but hey, lets just try to write a good song with some kind of meaning and substance. No rules, no boundaries and the genre lane is wide open. Pop, Rock, R&B, Jazz, Country - whatever the mood is for the day is where the song begins.
Ed is a self-taught musician with years of experience playing in bands since he was in elementary school. After graduating high school, Ed played professionally from age eighteen through twenty three. Along the way, a friend suggested that he try his hand at jingle writing. That advice set the stage for a twelve year career in the advertising industry, writing and producing commercial jingles in the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area. Life took him in different directions and a variety of businesses for the next couple of decades until one day in 2013 he decided to re-enter the music world and write songs about the many things he learned over the years. Ed currently lives on the Big Island of Hawaii with the love of his life for the past forty years.

As a kid , Ed watched his mom play her folk guitar and sing in the living room of their family home. He fell in love with the instrument. When he was 10 years old his dad bought him his first electric guitar at a discount department store and that started it all. He now has a large collection of string instruments and enjoys doing minor repairs and refurbishing on acquired and neglected "dust collector" guitars that other folks have and are in need of some TLC. He then turns them around putting them back in the hands of new up and coming musicians of all ages.

A custom built dedicated room for his studio was the dream in 2016. That vison has materialized into a fully functional multi track state of the art facility. As a gentleman farmer, Ed grows his own coffee in the back yard of his home located on the gentle slope of Hualalai Mountain. Trees are planted at the Ideal elevation of 1300' along the prized Kona Coffee belt . He and his wife Audrey harvest a very small production as a labor of love. It's the signature coffee of Akamai Studio.
